We relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville into a larger and completely different style house than where we had lived previously. Katy Bell worked with us to essentially create a home from scratch and in the process became an extended part of the family. She works so hard to get to know you and understand both what items are practically needed as well as which furnishings might bring joy to every member of the family. Katy Bell and I have know each other for about 20 years. She helped us decorate one home which we sold 6 years ago. We then purchased home built in 1973 that had not been updated since maybe the early 90s. We are now on the 3rd project - the 1st was relocating the laundry room, recreated the master bathroom/closet, renovate the bathrooms, light fixtures, paint, the 2nd was gutting the kitchen to the studs & decorate our teen sons room and now we are on the exterior. We have loved working with Katy. When we bought our current home we were moving from a smaller space and were not bringing much furniture with us, so we essentially had a blank slate. We didn't want a house that felt "decorated," we wanted a house that felt finished and stylish but still felt like our family, and that is exactly what Katy has done for us. She has helped us with everything from furniture selection and placement, to paint, to lighting. She has been a lifesaver with furniture placement, helping us maximize space while keeping good traffic flows that don't make the rooms feel cluttered. We had the entire interior of the house repainted and we love the colors she helped us pick. She also has great ideas at all different price points. There are items we've purchased where we decided to spend more, and items where we decided to go with less expensive options, and she has done a great job mixing everything together. She also has a great eye, and can walk into a room and move a chair slightly or rearrange a picture frame and everything just looks more balanced and finished. We also made several improvements to the home including wood floors, shutters, and a flagstone hearth, and Katy had great resources that gave us good quotes for all of the work and did a great job. We also have an older kitchen with formica cabinets and counters that we plan to remodel at a later date, but she had great ideas for making very inexpensive improvements, like applying a concrete finish to the countertops, that have made a big difference until we remodel down the road. My daughter had outgrown her "little girl" bedroom, and I promised her that she and I would redecorate it so that it would more accurately reflect her teenage style and sensibilities. She was insightful in capturing exactly what we wanted with the feel of our home and lifestyle, from the lighting, fixtures and reclaimed lumber mirrors, to the natural stone used on the bathroom floor/shower walls and the bedroom hardwood and arrangements.
